                                                                                               Alleluia!

Beloved little sister,

I wish you all of heaven’s gifts on this fine feast of Easter, and I’m bringing you a very rare Easter egg. It’s for a little sister who still lives on earth as we prepare to beatify her heavenly sister. Well, secretly, I can tell you that on 2nd August of this year, in Rome, there’ll be the General Congregation before the Holy Father and that, if the result of this hearing is favourable, the decree proclaiming the virtues of “little Thérèse” as heroic will be publically announced the following 15th August.

Now there’s great news! But it must stay a secret for a while. For various reasons too long to explain here, I’m not allowed to tell other Carmelite convents. I won’t do so until July probably.

His Lordship has been invited to go to Rome to thank the Holy Father on 15th August and he has joyfully accepted. Don’t mention it to him, if he doesn’t say anything.

Now give me news of your bodily and spiritual health. We are all well at the moment. We did have colds but they weren’t serious.

You have lost a young novice. I have one who is to take her perpetual vows this year and who worries me. She has two sisters who have died of tuberculosis, and I’m afraid the same will happen to her. She’s our best candidate: a little angel, and very capable in her work. You see, God doesn’t hold back with us. He makes it clear that He is the Master. I’m proud of it but that doesn’t stop me from suffering.

I send you my love, darling little sister

Give my respectful and affectionate regards to your Mothers.

The Beatification will take place in 1923 if everything goes well on 2nd August. Then there’ll be nothing but the examination of the miracles left, which will take about 3 “Congregations”. We hope that these will take place within one year.
