Darling little sister,

Your letter brought us great pleasure and touched us deeply. What do you want us to forgive? You have suffered much and wept much since you were a child. It is time to harvest the fruit of your tears. It’s true that we wept with you, and because of you, yet never did you yourself cause us any harm. What we owe you is the best part of our affection. Poor little one! It is at last time that you rejoiced. However, amid the joy of your Profession, there will be more tears, and this is a blessing. It’s a sign that God won’t change the way He is leading you to heaven.

You won’t see his Lordship, and our uncle and Jeanne are ill, so the only person present will be Francis (1). But we’ll write to you again beforehand to tell you how much we’re thinking of you.

I’m seeing to your pictures. Tell me how many you’d like for people outside the convent. Don’t hold back.

I send you a big kiss, beloved little sister. Do keep thanking your dear Mothers. We’re so happy with the outcome of the election!

Your loving little sister

Agnes of Jesus
