From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three Carmelite sisters - December 26th 1934

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 26th December 1934

Beloved little sisters,

Of course, we were all four of us at the cradle, beside our little King of Love. On the ineffable night of His coming to earth, we entrusted Him with our wishes for the New Year. Today, more than ever perhaps, He is not known and He is not loved! What upsets me most is that people are killing children’s souls. People would prefer to see them all slaughtered as in Herod’s time, wouldn’t they? The other day, in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament, I was filled with sadness and I begged Our Lord to have mercy on His beloved little children, and to hide them all in His Heart to avoid them from falling prey to all of Satan’s henchmen. Dear little sisters, seeing all forms of hatred persistently follow our divine and adored Persecuted Lord makes me even more nostalgic for heaven. When will all four of us be reunited there? We undoubtedly form but one heart and soul here below, but all the same, this is exile and we dream of reaching Our Father’s dwelling in our true Homeland.

Our Sisters at the Visitation of Holy Mary in Le Mans are very grateful to have the precious painting of our Saint. The frame around it is magnificent. It is exquisitely tasteful. Thank you for the copy; it is greatly appreciated.

Our dear Sisters Marguerite-Agnès and Joseph-Marie join me in sending you their best wishes. We, Jesus’ brides, wish one another to grow in love for the One who loved us so much. All other wishes are merely platitudes.

I’m hurrying to finish my letter so that little Violette can take it. In any case, I’ll write again in time for the beloved feast day on the 21st.

In the meantime, I send you all my love and kisses. As you know, this love comes straight from the burning fire in the unique hearth of love, the Heart of our Beloved Jesus.
