Staircase leading to the cells

These stairs which go up to the attic also descend to the entrance to the refection, on the side of St Alexis. They gave witness to the victory that Thérèse speaks of in Manuscript C, 15 recto, succeeding by not defending herself by taking flight, then sitting down on these stairs. Marie de Gonzague’s cell was located to the left of the statues.
