Holy card 05 - Remembrance of a short exile – summer 1896

There exists three copies of this moving family memento but perhaps each of the Martin sisters had her own, offered by Thérèse. The first below with the dove representing Mélanie, was Céline’s and copied by her in another composition. The second copy lower down, with the angel carrying off Mélanie, was made by Thérèse for her personal use.

V° Let the children come to me; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Mk 10,14
Their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Mt 18,10,4
Then he embraced and blessed the children, placing his hands on them. Mk 10,16
Gospel
Happy are they who God credits as righteous without works since a worker’s wage is credited not as a gift, but as something that is due. But when the one who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness by virtue of the redemption that Jesus Christ is the author of. Gospel of St Paul to the Rom 4, 6,4 and 3,24.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he carries the lambs, carrying them in his bosom. Isaiah, 40,11.
I heard a sound from heaven that was like that of harpists playing their harps. They were singing a new hymn before the throne; no one could learn this hymn except for the virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been ransomed as the first fruits of the human race for God and for the Lamb.
On their lips no deceit has been found; they are unblemished before the throne of God. Rv 14, 2-5
