Dear Léonie,

I was very happy to receive news from you; I trust you are continuing in good health and your dear Sisters are on the road to recovery.

I have only a little time to give you, but I want to recommend myself to your prayers before Lent, and I promise I will think of you more, if that is possible, and I will come to sing Alleluia at great length with you to make up for not being able to do so today.... I mean after Easter, but I am explaining myself so poorly that you might believe I will sing the Alleluia during Lent.... Oh! no, I shall content myself with following Jesus on His painful way; I shall hang my harp on the willows on the shores of the rivers of Babylon. ... But after the Resurrection, I shall take up my harp again, forgetting for a moment I am exiled; with you I shall sing the joy of serving Jesus and living in His house, the joy of being His spouse for time and Eternity!...

Dear little Sister, offer, I beg you, my respectful wishes to your kind Mothers, and believe in my great affection.

Your very little Sister, Thérése of the Child Jesus

P.S. When you write, will you tell me the year of your First Communion?
