+ Jesus! 13th May 1900
Darling little Sister,
I felt so happy when I received your telegraph yesterday!!!
We were all overjoyed. Papa wrote to us, praising God for giving him the honour of taking all his family unto Himself.
As for our Saints in heaven, for they are numerous now, they will celebrate your wedding with joy and thanksgiving. The celebration will be even greater in heaven than on earth. Mamma promised to throw you a lovely celebration for your profession; poor Mother will prepare it for you in heaven.
You know, I still feel heavyhearted thinking about her. I’m inconsolable, but that’s selfish of me, isn’t it? Jeanne wrote to me a while ago, saying, “It’s very sad to lose such a fine mother!” But come now, I mustn’t be sad, our hearts should be filled with joy at your reception to the Visitation. I’ll tell you about the little favours Mamma has been granting me another time. She has been giving me some delightful little dreams.
You’d do well to scold your elder sisters for always leaving it to the last minute to tell me I can write to you. Very often, like this evening for example, I’ve only a quarter of an hour and write nothing but scribble. That’s the only word for it! Forgive me, darling little Sister. Look past this into my heart, because it’s full of affection and happiness. We’ll see each other again in heaven, when we’ll have more than a quarter of an hour to tell each other lovely stories and we’ll have the whole of eternity to love one another. Oh, how happy we’ll be, and how I envy those who have preceded us there!
Farewell darling little sister. Offer my affectionate respects to your dear Mother Superior. We are so grateful to her! Please tell her so, and also thank all your Mothers and Sisters for kindly accepting you as their little Sister.
Your little Sister who loves you dearly
Sr Marie of the Eucharist
