From Marie Martin to Isidore Guérin and his wife - December 30, 1868.

Dear Uncle and dear Aunt,

I am very glad to be able to write to you and send a very nice little letter saying that I have grown used to the Visitation, and that I will try to be very good to please you because I love you very much.

I am very happy it is New Year’s Day knowing you will be [1v°] very pleased to have a little daughter who will correct herself of her faults and become very good in order to become a child of Jesus at the feast of the Purification and please her Mother and Father. Dear Uncle and dear Aunt I wish you a happy New Year as I do little Jeanne whom I love with all my heart and whom I’ve not seen but I believe she is very nice, very sweet and that she loves you. Dear Uncle and dear Aunt, I assure you I am very pleased it is New Year’s Day and to go and see my dear parents they will be so glad to see us again. I am going to try to learn to write well so I can write little letters often although they are not long I know they will please you and Aunt. Dear Uncle and dear Aunt I am well and I play at recreation and so does Pauline we love each other and would very much like to see you.

Dear Uncle and dear Aunt, I send you and little Jeanne all my love. Pauline sends all her love.

Your affectionate little daughter

Marie Martin
