From Marie Martin to her parents Louis and Zélie - January 10, 1869.

 Dear and kind Parents,

I am writing you a little letter to say I was comforted straight away when I came back to the Visitation, and so was Pauline who did nothing but sing petit Papa c'est aujourd'hui ta fête (children’s nursery rhyme) I can tell you papa and mama that I got one for my grammar lesson and that I knew my gospel and that I haven’t had any bad marks and I do hope to be a child of Jesus I am doing everything I can to succeed and please you and I pray to little Jesus every evening so that he will grant me and Pauline the grace of becoming children of Jesus at the feast of the Purification. Dear Mother I won’t tell you whether Aunt is better, she said she would take care of it [lv°] but I pray for her every evening so that God will heal her and let her live.

Dear Father and dear Mother, I send all my love to you and to Grandma Adolphe my little sisters Louise, Sister Dosithée and all the family.

Your little daughter who loves you with all her heart.

Marie Martin.
