From Marie of the Sacred Heart to M. Martin

After the feast of the Sacred Heart

Sunday

Thanks to good Jesus' little Monitor, who is giving us good things and joys. The fine pearl, the Queen, and the Diamond make up only one heart to love him. The Queen placed the three roses and the bud at her little Jesus' statue, and I said a prayer for the little Monitor so dear to God's Heart.

Dear little Father, your Queen is really worthy of this title; she is a little Queen, a perfection worthy of her King. As for me, alas! I am still the diamond that’s hard to chisel. Well, I accept this fault of mine and don’t complain about my lot. In the [2 r°] earthly world of Mr. Roussel one must make use of the axe of Mr. Marchand (these references are unintelligible today).

From your diamond who doesn’t beget melancholy, or exhale her sorrow on the Northern beach (?) but who, whenever she experiences any, prefers to exhale it into the Heart of Jesus, her very own treasure, her very own unrivalled heritage.

Marie of the Sacred Heart

The redcurrants from Les Buissonnets were our desert last night. I’m sending Céline some luisette seeds.
