From Marie of the Sacred Heart to Thérèse - Winter 1889/1890?

From Marie of the Sacred Heart to Thérèse.

Winter 1889/1890?

I have already told you that it causes me distress to see you go up at 8:30 ; you had promised me 8:15. When I see you doing the same thing almost every evening, it makes me very sad, and it is because of this that I'm crying, for you never listen to me anymore. You can read your lesson at the beginning or end of prayer, but, no, you don't want to do that. Then your poor little godmother is sad at heart, very sad over her poor little daughter, who seems to be fading away.

Is it not enough that she is no longer able to give her nice things as she did at Les Buissonnets? No, her dear little daughter must break her heart deliberately.
