From Sister Marie‑Dosithée Guérin to Mrs. Martin - January 21, 1877

From Sister Marie‑Dosithée Guérin to Mrs. Martin. 21st Jan. 1877.

My health is basically the same although the pain is nevertheless progressing, but it’s ever so gradual. Anyway we belong to the Lord let him do with us what he wants. I ate one of your oranges; my throat is very irritated; my tongue is as red as fire and covered in spots, anything sour burns my mouth like fire.

With all my love to you and to my dear family in Lisieux

Sr. M. Dosithée.

Our Rev. mother is so good to me that I’m confounded, yesterday she had a chicken brought to me, she was so happy when I told her I’d enjoyed eating it; I had nibbled on some bones.
