From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – June 9th 1915

9th June 1915

A very happy and holy feast day, beloved little sister. I love you dearly and consider it a pleasure to tell you so. I took Communion for you this morning.

The fine feast of the Sacred Heart in this year of war will be preceded by a day of fasting, a night of adoration and a midnight Mass, and the Most Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the chapel all night. Trust and love are filling all hearts, because we are awaiting salvation from Jesus alone. For me, at the present time when everything seems lost, I like to think and immerse myself in nothingness, away from all that’s happening, in order to already dwell in the heavenly Homeland in spirit and heart.

It’s been a year since our dear Cause was introduced. I’m working hard on my second testimony. Our dear Mother is willing to give me some time for that. Who knows what the future holds? Perhaps we’ll see each other again before we journey to blessed eternity, because I’m expecting to leave here and I hope that, instead of sending me to Bayeux, His Excellency will give us the immense joy of seeing each other again and living together for a few days. But I assure you that on this point, like with everything else, God gives me the grace of surrender.

From your little sister, who loves you as one would love a mother because you have been a very caring and devoted mother to me.
