From Marie of the Sacred Heart to Thérèse.

November 20, 1887

My little darlings, I don't have time to write you. Your letters pleased us very much. Let little Thérèse never grow weary of be­ing the ball of the Child Jesus. It will be so good one day to roll in­to heaven, we shall be so well-off there! But, in the meanwhile, we must, in order to merit it, stumble a little on the stones in the stony paths on earth. Let the little ball not be deflated. This would make little Jesus, who loves it so much, cry.
