Jesus +                                                                                                  13th April 1925

                                                 …    Alleluia! Alleluia!

Beloved little Visitandine,

I’m eager for you to receive our news, but you know well that Lent is not a time of silence for our hearts. In this apparent silence, we are more united than ever. Until there is not even any apparent silence, I mean to say, until we are in heaven, it is important that we pretend from time to time on earth, in order to better reunite again ... and talk. This happens at Easter and Christmas.

Darling little sister, the eve of Thérèse’s Canonisation is almost upon us! What a great blessing it is! It’s almost overwhelming just to think about it, but we are so busy that this reflection is often cut short or even suppressed altogether. What a mess!!

I wish this year was over, and my life, too, so that I can go and reflect upon God’s graces in heaven forever! Oh, how I thirst for heavenly rest, and for that eternal meditation! And yet I’m afraid of death, as you know, and I will add, to reassure you, that I am in good health. I shall send you the circular that I am sending to the other Carmelite convents announcing the Canonisation. Now I’m going to take a rest from all these circulars. They have been a nuisance because they push our Carmel too much to the fore!

I send you my love, beloved little sister. Give us your news soon.

Your old little sister

Agnes of Jesus

Give my respectful and fraternal regards to your Mother, and remember me to Sr Marguerite-Agnes.
