Our parents’ wedding anniversary

Beloved little sister,

Yesterday we had a splendid celebration. You will hear about it. We prayed the most pious and beautiful novena possible, but I’m nevertheless glad that it’s over and I think that you are fortunate in your deep solitude. Mgr Monnier [Bishop of Troyes] was pleased with his visit to the Visitation. You made me proud! Thank you!

Little sister, let no one outside or in any other Community know that we’re lending you our beautiful habit of glory. I wouldn’t lend it to anyone else. It is on your account that I’m willing to make an exception for your dear Mother Superior.

You need to tighten the "wimple" at the back with a pin by gathering together the folds on each side. Once the wimple is in place, pin under the chin, too, so that it holds whilst leaving just the forehead and hair roots visible.

Your little letter brought us great pleasure. We love you more and more if that’s possible. His Lordship made no mention of granting a feast day to the Visitation this year in honour of the Canonisation. What do your Mothers think about it? In my mind, it is impossible for you not to have at least one feast day and a solemn one at that.

Unfortunately Fr Martin cannot accept any more preaching appointments this year!

Your little sister and Mother

Sr Agnes of Jesus
