Beloved little sister,

Your feast day wishes are never late. Thank you. If you love me very much, then I love you lots too!

I’m writing to you before being feted by the Community, because I’ve been left in peace. The monastery is a hive of activity, with people rushing here and there and no one wants to see me. It’s true, but there I was counting on having this wonderful peace, and I’ve just been told that the Patriarch of Jerusalem is asking for me. You will understand if this surprise is not a welcome feast day gift.

I am unable to go to the visiting room until after the benediction this evening. The patriarch is going to say to himself, "What kind of Mother Prioress is she? It is very difficult to see her. It’s almost as bad as the pope." Too bad, he can think what he pleases.

Still, beloved little sister, that’s the way things are on earth. Everything comes at a price, even honour, and costs dear at that. I’m already wishing that this year was over. I would rather see the canonisation from above, from heaven, but it is not God’s will, and I don’t want to wear a long face when He’s preparing days of pure joy for us, even if they are tainted with trials and tribulations.

I send you a kiss, beloved little sister. Always be cheerful and that way you’ll begin your heaven on earth. Are you in good health? However, I recall that Our Lord said to Margaret Mary Alacoque, "It is not strength I want but love."

So let us have love, through being gentle and humble because these two virtues form this beautiful diamond.

I send you another 2 kisses from Sr M. of the S.H. and Sr Geneviève. Thank you for your spiritual bouquet. I would have liked nothing else.
