Jesus + Carmel of Lisieux 12th May 1925

Darling little sister,

Our souls beat in unison with yours on this great day of our little sister’s Canonisation. Yes, this silence alone befits us, for we have no desire to express what we feel inside. “Mary kept all these things in her heart.” It is the same for us. We like to speak about his indescribable mercies alone with Jesus. Our hearts overflow with gratitude to Him for having called us to Him and hidden us in our blessed solitude, like doves in the hole in the rock, to live in love and humility. To me, this hidden life seems more than ever like “the precious pearl that few find”. Our holy little Thérèse desired to be trampled underfoot here below like a tiny grain of sand and the Lord makes her shine today. She is like a bright sun that lights the way for poor exiled souls who are hungry for happiness and glory. – She tells them it is a mistake to seek any other glory than that of heaven or any other happiness than that which will last forever.

Dear little sister, I’m a bit sad thinking you don’t yet have the statue. But I think that this sacrifice is after all part of God’s design and He uses all these nuisances as opportunities to save poor sinners.

I must leave you and go and help Sr Geneviève weave together large artificial palm leaves for each side of the large Reliquary. You’d think they were real, so artistically have they been arranged.

Farewell, beloved little sister. On Sunday we will be but one in the Heart of sweet Jesus, because we too have the Bl. Sacrament exposed. So all four of us shall be in the heaven of faith as we await eternal ecstasy.

Your eldest sister who sends you fond kisses.

Sr Marie of the S. Heart.

My affectionate respects to your dear Mothers.

There are a few new hymns but they aren’t yet ready. As soon as they are, we will send them via Mrs Lecourt. I’ve just received the following hymns, which I’m enclosing with my letter pending a further lot later.

Don’t be upset, we too shall have a lovely dinner on Sunday.

P.S. from Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face.

Beloved Léonie, I’m not going to be the only one to miss this, am I? Oh, no!... You know my heart is with you… an overwhelming task has meant I’ve had no free time these past few days. But you know, the four of us are but one soul, and so what one says and thinks, the others say and think…

Here’s to Sunday, darling little Sister, and the glorification of a creature’s Love for her God and Father.

Your little Sister

Geneviève of the Holy Face.
