Jesus + Carmel of Lisieux 17th August 1925

Darling little sister,

I haven’t yet found time to reply to your questions. I’m going to do so briefly so that my letter leaves this morning.

First, please inform your Mother Prioress about the sachets of box leaves. It would be better not to put the seal of the Carmel on them. Moreover, we could sell you some of our sachets at a 25% reduction in price. That’s what we do for the Carmelite convents that request them.

We sell our sachets at 0.25 cents to cover for the supplies and production. But we also give many away.

As for the books, we do the same 25% reduction for sales. The Visitation could send us its orders and we would send them via Bar-le-Duc.

The canonisation poem that the Visitation of Paris mentioned can be published. People are free to publish what the convent composed. Moreover it is a most beautiful poem.

Dear little sister, you asked me for news of Sr M. of the Child Jesus. She has been joined in Phnom Penh in Cambodia by Sr Jeanne of the Eucharist. She likes it there very much. Sr Jeanne of the Eucharist has just been elected Prioress, as her Mother Prioress was at the end of her six-year term. Sr M. Thérèse is also Prioress, in Saigon.

We saw the Archbishop of Galilee today. He recommends himself to your prayers and appeared to us to be a real saint. Yet if only you knew how strange it seems to see him with long hair tumbling over his shoulders in the Nazarene style. It goes down to the middle of his back. I can’t believe Our Lord had such long hair!

Farewell darling little sister. I must quickly leave you, I send fond kisses. Present our affectionate respects to your dearest Mother Prioress. Thank her for us for the information she gave us on your September Triduum. We are so happy to hear you are pleased with the Corncockle poem!

Convey our gratitude to your two Mothers for the motherly affection they show to our little Visitandine.

Your eldest sister

Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart

Our Mother met the Prioress of Annecy Carmel in the visiting room.

The little letter from Sr Hélène Elisabeth was very kind and so humble!
