Darling little sister,

Holy feast of Pentecost! Yes, may the Holy Spirit increasingly fill your soul with His light and graces!

How could He possibly not do so, since you pray to Him every day? The hymn Veni Sancte Spiritus is so beautiful! What pleasure your letters brought us! It’s so wonderful for us to feel you are so united to God. We didn’t forget your birthday on 3rd June, dear little sister. You have now begun your 73rd year. This means we are very close to our aspired goal.

There have been many pilgrims here these past two days. Yesterday there was a pilgrimage of two thousand young ladies from Brittany. The group was far too large, and not everyone could fit into the chapel, not even the Basilica crypt, and some of them wept, we have been told. I have prayed for them so that God might compensate them with more graces. If only you could see how many roses and different kinds of flowers people place by the large reliquary. There are enough of them to decorate the large altar with fresh flowers. Although this creates extra work for the sacristan, she is very happy to fulfil this task for Our Lord hidden in His tabernacle. There He is, as though He were poor, asking for nothing, waiting to receive what His creatures are willing to give Him! What a mystery of love!

Yesterday I went round the garden and I saw that Mrs Fleuriot’s 300 year old trees are all dying one after the other. This is to the despair of Sr Geneviève who went to so much trouble organising everything. Yet such things detach us from earth.

Farewell darling little sister. Our Mother is sending you a little boat which one of our Lay Sisters made. She’s a real little saint. She is very young, but deaf, and responds to her trial with great generosity, never complaining but instead pitying those whom she makes suffer from her disability.

Your three little sisters send you fond kisses. My respectful and affectionate regards to your dear Mothers.
