Canon Jean-Baptiste Delatroette.

Born July 23rd, 1818 in Saint-Martin-des-Besaces, died October 8th, 1895 in Lisieux.
Superior of the Carmel of Lisieux from September 14th, 1870 to his death, he expressed stiff opposition to the entrance in Carmel of Thérèse Martin, due to her young age. He overcame his prejudice only in 1892, during the influenza epidemic in Carmel. Thérèse kept three of his letters, dated from 1888 and 1890.
