From Thérèse to Sister Geneviève.

I, JESUS, ETERNAL WORD, THE ONLY SON OF GOD AND OF THE VIRGIN MARY, espouse today CELINE, exiled princess, poor and without titles. I give Myself to her under the name of KNIGHT OF LOVE OF SUFFERING AND CONTEMPT.

My intention is not to give My Beloved her homeland, her titles, and her riches now. I will that she share the lot it pleased Me to choose on earth.... Here below, My Face is hidden, but she can recognize Me when others despise Me. In return, I am placing on her head today the helmet of salvation and grace so that her face may be hidden like Mine.... I will that she hide the gifts she has received from Me, allowing me to give them to her or take them back, just as I please, not attaching herself to a single one, forgetting even all that can make her great in her own eyes and in those of creatures.

My beloved will henceforth be named GENEVIEVE OF SAINT TERESA (her more glorious title, that of MARIE OF THE HOLY FACE will remain hidden on earth so that it may shine in heaven with incomparable brilliance). She will be shepherdess of the one Lamb, who is becoming her Bridegroom. Our union will bring forth souls more numerous than the stars in the firmament, and the family of the seraphic Teresa will rejoice in a new splendor to be given to it.

Geneviève will bear patiently the absence of her Knight, leaving Him to combat alone so that He alone may have the honor of the victory; she will be content to handle the sword of Love. Like a sweet melody her voice will delight Me in the midst of the camps. The lightest of her sighs of Love will set on fire with a totally new ardor my elite troops.

I, the Flower of the Fields, the Lily of the Valleys, will give My Beloved for her nourishment the Wheat of the Elect, the Wine that brings forth Virgins. ... She will receive this food from the humble and glorious Virgin Mary, the Mother of us both....

I want to live in My Beloved, and, as proof of this Life, I am giving her My Name; this royal emblem will be the mark of her omnipotence over My Heart.

TOMORROW, THE DAY OF ETERNITY, I shall lift My helmet.... My Beloved will see the brightness of My Adorable Face.... She will hear the NEW NAME I am reserving for her. ... She will receive for her Great Reward the BLESSED TRINITY!...

After having shared the same hidden Life, we shall enjoy in our kingdom the same GLORIES, the same THRONE, the same PALM,

and the same CROWN- Our two hearts, united for eternity, will

love with the same ETERNAL LOVE!!!...

Given on the Mountain of Carmel, under our signature and the seal of our arms, on the feast of My Agony," the 24th day of February, in the year of grace 1896
