LT 234 - to Sister Marie of the Eucharist - June 2, 1897.

June 2, 1897

To my dear little Sister, a souvenir of the beautiful day on which the Bridegroom of her soul deigns to place His seal on the head He is preparing to crown one day before all the Elect....

Formerly, the entire heaven joined together on June 2 to contemplate this mystery of love: Jesus, the gentle Jesus of the Eucharist giving Himself for the first time to Marie. This beautiful heaven made up of the Angels and the Saints is here again today; it is here contemplating with delight: Marie giving herself to Jesus before the world astonished at a sacrifice it cannot understand. Ah! if it were to understand the look that Jesus cast upon Marie on the day of His first visit, it would also understand the mysterious seal she wishes to receive today from Him who has wounded her with love.... It is no longer the graceful veil with the long snowy fold that must envelop Marie of the Eucharist; it is a somber veil that reminds the Spouse of Jesus that she is exiled, that her Bridegroom is no longer a Bridegroom who must lead her into festivities but to Mount Calvary. Henceforth, Marie must look no longer at anything here below, at anything except the Merciful God, the Jesus of the EUCHARIST!...
