Jesus!. . .

My dear King,

What a joy to be able to send you this year from the Kingdom of Carmel my wishes for a Happy New Year. Never has your little Queen been able to offer her affection with more joy; she feels so close to her King, so close that nothing could separate her from him!. . .

Earthly Kings are very happy when they can form noble alliances for their daughters, and what gratitude these children have towards their parents!. . . For your little Queen it is a totally different matter. You as a Father, and really as a King, you wanted to entrust her only to the King of heaven, to Jesus Himself, and from Orpheline de la Bérésina I passed to the very noble title of Carmelite.

How I must love a Father who wanted to obtain such a great happiness for me, and how I do love him!. . . If the guide at Rome were here, he would be able to say: "Messieurs les Abbés, I am going to have you look upon a father, the like of whom you've never seen; there is something here that will make you fall over in admiration."' Is it not true, dear little Father, that you could not do more for your little Queen. If she is not a Saint, it will really be her own fault, for with a father like you she really has the means for this!. . .

Dear Father, the day is ending, and it is time that I leave you, but only in finding you again at the side of Jesus, your true place.

Soon the day without shadows will light up for us, and then never will we end our conversation!. .

Happy New Year, dear King, and thanks for all the treats you gave us this week!. . and throughout the WHOLE year!. . .

May Jesus grant you His blessings, and may He give you, as He has promised, the hundredfold in this life and His beautiful heaven in the next. That is the wish of your little Queen, who loves you more than ever any Queen loved her King.
