Photo album offered to Marie de Gonzague

This album was offered by Thérèse to Marie de Gonzague for her feast June 21st, 1897.

It is one of Thérèse’s last texts written the same time as Manuscript C and bearing the same inspiration.

She was certainly helped by Céline and Marie Guérin, the two photographers of the monastery.

The texts, no doubt written in calligraphy by Mother Agnès describe life in Carmel by re-reading it with the Bible.

Of the 57 captions of the photos, 34 are explicit citations from Scripture.

The landscape album has a very faded garnet cover, measuring 26.5 X 35.5 cm.

It includes 45 bound folios. Of these folios, 19 have 57 glued photos (4 have disappeared) embellished or not with captions.

We have reduced the margins of each folio bearing a single photo to permit a better viewing.
