From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three Carmelite sisters - June 1918

Feast of the Sacred Heart 1918 [June]

I’m delighted with the photographs of “The Little Way”. I recognise everything I saw at the Carmel in the slides. It’s such bliss for me to have these treasures, which are the subject of all my silent prayers. I immerse myself in them like bees among flower petals. Oh, how I want to resemble the “tiny one” who never lets go of Jesus’ hand.

Little sisters, it’s with a mixture of joy and melancholy that I remember our reunion in September 1915. I was mute with happiness. My heart was so full of affection for you, and gratitude to God for such an incomparable and immense blessing, that I felt frustrated at not being able to convey my feelings.

God allows things to be so, because we would forget heaven too easily if we enjoyed perfect happiness in exile, and we would no longer dream of the real paternal home in the heavens.
