From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - December 25, 1925

25th December 1925

Happy, holy and blessed New Year to my little sisters, whom I love more than ever. How I long to hear from you! Are you in good health? Here, we had a sad Advent; everyone had the flu, but it wasn’t serious thanks to God. However, it did take one of our dear elders and we risk losing another; she is a true treasure of virtue.

I absolutely love your sermon from 24th November, darling little Mamma. It’s so enlightening and full of truth . . . . I have just read your dear letters, which was a feast for my heart. They make me dream of heaven because it’s difficult being able to converse only through writing. I find exile increasingly sad, but also much easier to bear thanks to you, beloved sisters.

People say suchabsurdities about our Thérèse! It is fortunate that Rev. Fr Petitot masterfully refutes them. His work is magnificent, don’t you agree? I like it even more than the biography by Mgr Laveille. How kind it is of you to send us everything that is published on our dear little saint. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than things relating to her. I love her so much . . .
