From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three Carmelite sisters - January 31st 1926

31st January 1926

Beloved little sisters,

My heart flew to you as soon as our dearest Mother revealed your surprises to me. She had hidden everything in her cupboard until the 28th, the appointed day. I couldn’t have wished for more! We are all thrilled to have the complete canonisation Office. It’s a lovely keepsake, but the pretty reliquary mounted with the bust by Rev. Fr Marie-Bernard is better still. Dear little Mamma, this was no doubt the most precious and most beautiful of your feast day gifts, and you deprived yourself of it for me! How do you expect my heart not to overflow with gratitude? You are the channel through which Jesus showers me with blessings, making exile very sweet as I wait for the blessed reunion in the heavens. It can’t be far off now.

Our dear Mother is so kind! She gave me such an affectionate kiss from my beloved trio on my feast day. Having told her I desired to have this beautiful reliquary in the sacristy, she whole-heartedly granted my wish. Our saint had already been there for years (the picture of Thérèse as sacristan preparing the sacred vessels). We can’t go anywhere in the monastery without coming across her, either in pictures or statues. This year our cell is right opposite the one in the garden, and we find her so pretty. Our little queen has been covered with a coat of the snow that she loved so much and it perfectly mirrors her pure and virginal soul.
