From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three Carmelite sisters - August 8th 1926

8th August 1926

. . . . I feel you are like me, ever more avid for heaven. The only thing that keeps us here in this sad exile is the knowledge that we can suffer and offer reparation to our Beloved, the Creator who is willing to beg love from His creatures. But everyone scorns His suffering love. He complained about it to our Sister, Saint Margaret Mary. Let us, His brides, find joy in comforting Him. I admit that only this helps me bear life, but I need your prayers to help me suffer generously.

Our Lord said to your Holy Mother Saint Teresa, “My daughter, once your life is over you won’t be able to suffer for me anymore.” This thought reassures me, gives me patience and attaches me to life again.

Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be days of great jubilation here because we are holding a celebration for our beloved Mother. I know that you always share in our family celebrations, so that is why I’m announcing it to you.

Farewell in God. He is the only thing that is true. In Him we remain, never to part, until the long-awaited eternal reunion.

Your tiny and very loving little sister.
