From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - January 30, 1927

30th January 1927

Darling little sisters,

How generous you have been to me! What a lot of delightful things!

I understand your anxiety, darling little Mother, and wholly share in it! You know, my heart reciprocates all your pain . . . and it is a comfort to be able to suffer and rejoice with you. Everything that affects you is mine to share.

It is so true to say that all men are liars, because God wants us to trust in Him alone. Man is as fickle as the wind whereas God is always the same. In a word, everything works out well for those who love God. Such faithful and truthful thoughts do the soul good and help us to bear life’s struggles.

I’m sending you a little booklet entitled “Ideal family”. Such books tire me so! Only those from my little Carmel delight me, because they are the truth. – We are all thrilled to have our darling saint’s precious testimony. Her last words “Novissima Verba” are practically oracles. We can’t explain how grateful we are to possess this treasure. We find the medallions very, very pretty. We couldn’t dream of anything better.

As for your beautiful slides, little Céline, I’m so pleased and touched! All in all, I have been spoilt right across the board as always, and my heart melts in affection and love towards God. I will take a Communion for each of you three. It will be my way of repaying your Community, which I consider as much mine as the very dear one I live in. That says everything, don’t you agree?
