From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - August 25, 1929

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 25th August 1929

Darling little sisters,

We have made 20,000 sachets for our dearest Mother’s feast day. We’re hoping that our devoted Mrs Lecourt won’t mind taking them to you. We held a celebration for our dear Mother, perhaps for the last time, because she will have been Superior for six years next May. The celebration was very lovely and you contributed to it largely (as always) by giving her some relics of our saint. Such gifts always bring our Mother great pleasure, and we are infinitely grateful.

The first part of Thérèse’s plays on St Joan of Arc and St Stanislaus were performed. As you can see, our darling saint is present at all our celebrations.

It’s 25th August, a date that brings back so many memories, especially the touching and very painful day in ’77 when Mamma celebrated Papa’s feast day for the last time here below. Three days later, she left exile for the true Homeland.

It’s very kind of you to show us these lovely photos of the Holy Father. Thank you also for the stamps.

I have nothing more to say, apart from the same old thing; I love you with all my heart.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin
