From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to sr Genevieve (Celine) - November 26, 1915

26th November 1915

Dear little Céline,

Just a note to tell you that we all share in the great loss you have just suffered. I consider it a grace to have seen this holy nun (Mother Marie of the Eucharist) on her sacrificial altar.

Everything is over now! Glory and eternal felicity are the reward for her suffering.

I’m worried about our darling little Mother’s health after having spent so many days and nights in anguish and without rest. Jesus loves her so much! And the proof is that He isn’t holding back with her. But she also knows that all the saints she has lost are merely invisible to her and will be infinitely more useful to her in heaven than on this sad earth. What a splendid crown awaits her in turn up above! But I hope my little Mother goes to receive it as late as possible; she’ll merely be richer and more magnificent for it.

Little Céline, I’m afraid I hurt you with regards to my portrait. You put so much effort into it and I gave you a lot of trouble. It’s not your fault if I’m ugly and have such untidy hair, it’s mine. In any case, darling sisters, if you think I look fine, I do too, because this tiny little creature feels extremely poor and inferior compared to you in every respect. Pray for me during this holy season of Advent. I wish to spend it looking at the divine model who made Himself so very small for my love.
