From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Genevieve (Celine) - August 6th 1927

V+J! From our Monastery in Caen this 6th August 1927

Darling little Céline,

I’m hoping to have an opportunity to send you my wishes for a happy feast day. It could present itself any day now, which is why I’m getting ready. But I’m always ready to celebrate my darling little sisters’ feast days. I wish you happy and holy joy, and great success in everything you are undertaking for God’s glory, because I know very well that this is the only thing you have in sight in your numerous occupations concerning Thérèse. The more trials there are, the more pleasing the work is to God; it’s the divine seal. So have invincible trust in the face of all opposition. As always, He will have the last word when His time comes.

I’m going to ask Jesus to give you this trust as I receive Communion on my feast day, confident that my prayer will be answered.

Since 11th June, I’ve had nothing but your little card telling me the great news of our darling saint’s exceptional triumph. I’m still waiting for a letter from my devoted Marie. She is forcing me to observe a strict fast before Lent.

Is it true that the Basilica will be built on the same spot as the Way of the Cross, which you have, apparently, abandoned? I’m so tired of all this false news; it makes me want to hear yours all the more.

In this hope, your little Léonie sends you her love, and the fondest of kisses

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin
