Little Céline,

It’s much simpler to send you the letter from Elise, our former boarding school companion, as then you will see what she desires. I beg of you, do all you can to satisfy her, as she deserves it. She’s a saintly soul; she comes to see me two or three times a year and always asks after you most affectionately.

Yesterday I could tell that she was burning with desire to go to Lisieux. Rest assured, she is very discreet and won’t request to see anyone in the visiting room. I told her that you didn’t go there anymore, for you were all too busy, especially with the upcoming special celebrations. However, these festivities are no doubt going to be clouded by the death of Cardinal Dubois. What a loss this is for France, and Holy Church!

I am even more closely united to you at this time. I’m here only in body. – Jesus knows that we parted for his love.

How I love telling Him over and over again, “Farewell pleasure, farewell earthly joys. It’s enough to have my prisoner of Love!”

How happy I am to have back my treasure, the Crucifix! Thank you!

I send you all my love, dearest little sisters.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
