From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – May 22nd 1913

22ndMay 1913

I wish you a very happy, holy and blessed anniversary, dearly beloved little sister. It’s your silver anniversary, in celebration of twenty-five years of intimate union and heart-to-heart with Jesus our unique Spouse!

Thérèse’s angelic and radiant look when she was a postulant and crowned you on the 23rd, the day you received the Veil, has remained in my memory and also in my heart like a heavenly vision.

Our beloved Mother has had a serious case of flu. Imagine the affection and filial devotion with which her little nurse tried to take care of her, to the point of burning her with overly spicy mustard poultices. Look at my know-how, darling little sister. You see how I need to be guided in everything.

I was baptised on the feast day of the Most Blessed Sacrament half a century ago now; I’m so old!

And 23rdMay is the anniversary of my first Communion, in the sense that it was on the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, which is very dear to my heart.
