From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – May 22nd 1928

V + J! This 22nd & 23rd May 1928

Ad multos annos!

Darling eldest sister,

What a special anniversary this is! It marks 40 years in the service of the best of Masters and most loving and perfect of Spouses. I offer you Him as an anniversary bouquet in the form of several Communions. Since I can do nothing with my two hands, I have to make up for it, which I’m doing superbly. There’s nothing more valuable or precious I can give you. I know this and it comforts me in my extreme physical poverty.

Beloved little sister, your Léonie’s paltry yet loving heart beats loudly in unison with all those around you on this day of eternal blessings. The whole Community lovingly joins yours, having been but one with them for a long time now. We very heartily share in your joys and sorrows. And you remember our goodDidine [who had worked for the Guerins and for Fr Pitrou, Chaplain of the Carmel], who loves you so much ; you caught her eye.

I’ve kept the sweetest memory of Thérèse, then a recent postulant, stepping forwards to place the bridal crown on your head. It was so delightful! What a heavenly vision! Our little sower of roses is going to be much changed as she stands beside her darling Godmother on the anniversary of her divine wedding. Do tell me all about this blessed celebration.

Thank you for the lovely pictures of Jesus as the “Good Shepherd”. The coloured one is very pretty. What a lovely profile picture of Our Lord! It is so kind of you to share everything with us like this! And as for the poem; it’s delightful. Who composed it?

I thank you for your lovely letter, darling little sister, and once again send you all my fraternal and filial affection. No, no, I can’t forget the double anniversary on 8th May; it is forever engraved in my heart.

Sr Fse-Thérèse
