From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – May 26, 1929

V+J! From our monastery in Caen this 26th May 1929

My darling eldest sister,

I fear I won’t have another opportunity to send you my feast day wishes, which is why I’m writing to you today, preferring to be early than late. I very often visit you in your little infirmary cell in spirit and in heart. It’s just a short step from there to the grave, because Jesus is holding His beloved bride to the Cross with Him. This thought of faith is very true and eases all sorrow.

When I take Communion for you on your feast day, I’ll beseech our most loving Jesus to smother you with his divine caresses as a foretaste of heaven. All things that pass are so insignificant. We see it all the more clearly as we grow older, which is a grace, a very great grace.

In your next letter, tell me whether I need to send you back the photos of Alençon. They are very interesting, but perhaps you need them. Was the building in the garden where the linen room was destroyed as well? I wonder where the Prelates are staying. I don’t know anything anymore; there have been so many changes!

Yes, it was indeed on the feast of the Holy Trinity 54 years ago that I took my 1st Communion. As for you, darling sister, on 2nd July it will have been 60 years since you took yours. There have been so many Communions since, a countless number, and so many graces accumulated! This portrait of Joan of Arc with Thérèse is very beautiful. There is such fire in our saint’s eyes! Thank you for your kind letter and for the newspaper clippings.

With love to all three of you in the Heart of our beloved Jesus, where neither the world, nor hell, or anything else that exists will ever be able to separate us.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
