From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Isidore Guerin – October 6th 1907

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin to her Uncle Mr Guérin

V + J! From our Monastery in Caen this 6th October 1907

Dearest Uncle,

How good you are to spoil your little Visitandine so. I was very surprised this morning to see the four lovely tarts. I immediately said, “It’s my Uncle, it can only be him.” Thank you, thank you! You can see that Jesus gives His brides, even in this life, the hundredfold He promised, because we have not only that which is necessary, but also treats and kindnesses of all sorts. We continually recommend our benefactors to the prayers of the Community.

I was so happy to see you and little Jeanne. I forgot to tell you that Mrs Tifenne came to see me at the beginning of September. She was hoping to go and see you at the end of the month. Have you seen her? She made a very good impression on me. She has extremely devout since the death of her husband. She works for good causes. She has a heart of gold, she does. It’s so unfortunate that she doesn’t fully belong to God and work to His glory.

I saw she wasn’t averse to coming on a retreat here, and she said to me, very seriously, “You’ll preach to me, won’t you?” Imagine how I laughed!

I would so love for my little Jeanne to spend time looking after Marguerite and Charlotte Lahaye. It seems she has a special mission to accomplish for these young ladies, whom I pity greatly. I feel relieved in my heart to have told her so. I send my love to her and dear Francis.

Thank you once again! Dearest Uncle, allow me to convey my filial affection and gratitude to you once more.

Sr Fse-Thérèse

B.B.G.!

Pray for the retreat I’m going to take shortly. I won’t forget the three of you. Alas, how could I ever forget you?
