From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Mother Agnes of Jesus – January 19th 1930

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 19th January 1930

Dear little Mother whom I love threefold,

Happy, holy and blessed feast day! What can I offer you in exchange for the flood of surprises that you sent me to celebrate me being royalty for a day? Ah, I know that Jesus alone can settle my debts, so I will offer you a bouquet of five Communions, and only then will I find rest.

You have indulged me so much, darling little Mamma, with the 400 francs worth of banknotes, sweets, relics, and pretty pictures. The beautiful reliquaries are very precious, especially the bronze one, with its 1stclass relic. Tell me why the word “flesh” is written on the authenticating seal because only bones were found of our little sister. I’d very much like an explanation on this point.

You can understand how happy our Sisters and I were to receive these royal gifts, and so we melt in thankfulness. Our dearest Mother has asked me to express her deep gratitude. We’re touched beyond words by your boundless generosity towards our Community. It’s true that our two monasteries form but one, and we’re proud of this. We love each other so much, and we are ever so closely united.

I’m waiting for an opportunity to send you the songs and delightful surprises I was so generously given, for I was paid an excessive amount of attention and honour. To my great joy, our darling Mother was able to attend the entire celebration without growing too tired. She was radiant. How I love her!!!

Our Sisters performed the Adoration of the Magi in living tableaux. It was superb. The Baby Jesus was the one from the nativity scene.

A smile from Heaven was performed by our Sisters in the novitiate to close the heavenly day. Lastly, our Thérèse appeared with the divine little King of Love in her arms. It was charming and delightful!

Our dear little Sr Joseph-Marie Lecourt wishes you a happy feast day. Our dear Didine also loves you very much and told me to remember her to you.

With fond kisses to you and our two little sisters

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
