From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Mother Agnes of Jesus – May 24th 1931

Beloved little Mother,

Your letter has brought me all the joy of the Holy Spirit. How I love this feast day! It’s the feast of love par excellence.

I had a special thought for my darling little Sister Marie of the Holy Spirit, whose feast day it is today. May our Divine Host comfort her and give her a foretaste of the heavens in the form of joy that exceeds all emotion.

Finally, thanks to God, the celebration on the 17th was a success. The devil got little for his pains, praise be to God! I prayed the Magnificat several times for good weather because I, too, was very worried.

How profound your poem is [what I’ve seen of it] darling little Mamma. Why do you want me to send it back to you? I’d very much like to keep it among my treasures. Is that a yes? Thank you!! But I won’t, as I don’t know the tune. I want to be able to sing it because a song speaks better to the soul.

It’s the 43rd anniversary of our darling eldest sister’s profession. In just seven years it will be her golden anniversary. Our hearts will be filled with joy, if we live that long. I have taken a Communion for her and for you.

We have all 15 volumes of the Liturgical Year at last. Many thanks for this magnificent gift, and for all the others, as your generosity towards us is endless. As for the sugared almonds from the bell’s baptism, the youngsters among us will certainly enjoy biting into them! One such Sister, who is training for the Turn, is over five foot 7. She is such a giant!

With my love and boundless affection to all three of you.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse

Happy feast day on Sunday, little Sr Marie of the Trinity. My Communion shall be for you.
