From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three Carmelite sisters - December 20th 1931

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 20th December 1931

Darling little sisters,

I wish to tell you via this little note how closely united we’ll be to you on Wednesday 23rd, a date so very dear to our hearts! I hope that the chaplain will be able to say the conventional Mass of thanksgiving for our matchless Mamma on that day, and I will say the responses. There in the highest heaven, her heart will be filled with joy to see the Léonie who caused her so much worry as a little Visitandine and playing such an active role in the divine sacrifice at the altar. It’ll be so moving, and a truly heavenly delight!

We are touched beyond words and so very grateful to you for indulging us like this for the occasion. It will be a celebration in heaven and on earth and I dare hope for a Papal Blessing on the day, because the Holy Father must have been informed of it. We simply can’t do without this precious favour because it will be the crowning of the event.

We’re taking advantage of this opportunity to send you our best wishes for a happy New Year. We will entrust these wishes to the Heart of our divine little King of Love at Christmas.

We very much like Mr Bouvet’s article about Mamma in the Annals.

We’ll be in touch again soon, beloved little sisters! I will write again, in the meantime, I increasingly love and cherish you . . .

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin
