From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Mother Agnes of Jesus – October 2, 1932

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 2nd October 1932

Dearest little Mamma,

I, too, have come to lavish you with love and affection on this, the anniversary of your entrance to those blessed cloisters. Today these cloisters have become a reliquary as a result of the angelic child who lived there for nine and a half years. Many sad and sorrowful events have taken place over the last fifty years, but there have been joyful ones as well. Even the purest joys in exile are tainted with trials. God wills it to be so, to prevent poor human hearts from becoming attached to earth. All the same, we can say in all truth, “This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Darling little Mother, my heart is full of things I would like to say to you but it’s impossible for me to express them. That is why I’m offering you a bouquet of five Communions, begging our All-Sufficient Jesus to kindly make up for my inadequacy. Doing so comforts me and helps me wait patiently for our reunion in the Heavenly Homeland. Only there will we understand each other without the noise of words, for here below we can only stammer.

Thank you once again for all the things you sent us to celebrate these three heavenly days.

I ask our two little sisters to give you a kiss from me, while I will be closely united to you in heart and soul. I will be on retreat, but no matter; in Jesus and with Jesus, we are fused into one in a mirror image of heaven.

Do pray for me during these days of grace, darling little sisters, so that I might be converted once and for all. From your little Visitandine who loves you so very much

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
