From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - September 30, 1933

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 30th September 1933

Dearest little sisters,

I’m quickly taking advantage of this opportunity to say many, many thanks for spoiling me all the time. You would like us to hold a lavish celebration for our darling Saint, and these blue banknotes and pictures allow us to do so. We are so touched by your immense kindness. Our beloved Mother wants me to thank you for her, despite enclosing a little note with mine. Little sisters, your letters are such a delightful feast for my heart, and bring me so much comfort! We had two Masses this morning, and I was able to say the responses at one of them; what a grace! Ah, our souls are very closely united on this blessed day. It’s a foretaste of heaven.

I can understand Jeanne leaving Lisieux. It is clear that she should give you the piece of furniture, as a family keepsake. She doesn’t realise this, which is sad, but that’s the way things are on earth . . .

I’m going on retreat this evening and I’m taking you with me. I can’t tell you how much affection I have in my heart for you. You understand everything, and that’s enough.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
