From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Mother Agnes of Jesus – January 21, 1934

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 21st January 1934

Darling little Mamma,

I come with all my daughterly and sisterly love to throw myself into your arms and press myself against your heart and say, “Happy feast day! Happy feast day!” This is a prelude of what awaits you next eighth of May. But little Mother, what will we do because your golden anniversary falls on Rogation Tuesday. The religious ceremony will take place nonetheless, will it not?

As always, I’m offering you my bouquet of Communions because I know that by giving you sweet Jesus, our only wealth, I’m settling the many mounting debts I owe you. You are a doting little Mamma if ever there was one . . . .

You can see by the recent bereavements that the beginning of the year has been marked by trial for us. This is a very good thing, but the consolation of consolations is seeing our dear Sisters leave for heaven so piously. Their death is already enviable and naturally I imagined the words on their lips being those of our little St Thérèse: “I’m not dying, I’m entering into life.”

We have not seen the end of these painful separations, as several of our Sisters are very weak.

We simply love the pictures of the Lourdes visions. Our dear little Sister Joseph-Marie is glad to have been counted among the select few to receive them. She loves you very much, darling Mamma, and she offers you her best feast day wishes. This little book (calendar) on Thérèse brings me great pleasure! Thank you for always spoiling me like this.

I send kisses to you and to our two little sisters. From your little daughter, who loves you with every bit of her increasingly young heart.

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
