Darling little Mamma,

As our Chaplain is intending to go to Lisieux for the retreat of the Priests of St Francis de Sales, of which he is a member and director for the departmental region and Diocese of Bayeux, he has kindly offered to take any mail I have to the Carmel. I have written a card for the four jubilarians at the Abbey. Would you have one of your Turn Sisters take it to them? You understand that I can’t ask this of our dear Chaplain; it’s too far from the Carmel and it would be tactless.

Thank you for obliging me, darling little Mamma. I can ask you anything . . . .

We were left with an excellent impression of Bishop Samper. As soon as he arrived, our dear Mother and I went to the visiting room. The Holy Prelate was in the chapel and we waited for him for almost half an hour. Fortunately, the Chaplain was at home and went to fetch him (otherwise we’d still be waiting). He told us about some of the marvels our darling Saint has been working. He wanted to take back with him a keepsake of poor little. I signed a picture showing our Angel at her first Communion. I saw that he left happy, having faithfully followed your advice.

Have you received the letter I entrusted to Mrs Coulombe (Louise Rabinel)? She’s such a kind person! I did enjoy her visit.

With my fond kisses, beloved little sisters,

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin
