From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - November 21, 1934

V + J! From our monastery in Caen this 21st November 1934

Beloved little sisters,

We are going to say “Farewell in God” to one other, because the holy season of Advent is now approaching. It won’t last long, only three weeks, and then we’ll meet again at the crib of the divine Child, our adored Spouse. Can you remember how our Thérèse used to love contemplating the nativity scene? We couldn’t drag her away from it. It was from there that she drew her heavenly Doctrine, and, in so doing, proved herself a Master, as our beloved Father the Sovereign Pontiff would say.

We are ineffably united on this day, darling little sisters, because as one heart and one soul, we have renewed our holy vows. Blessed eternity will be too short to give praise and thanksgiving to the Holy Trinity for looking upon us and loving us all. I was very surprised to see that in the Annals, not a word is said in memory of Rev. Father Petitot. We are relishing what he wrote about our saint. He loved her so deeply, and understood her so well. . . . It must have been unwise on his part, it seems, to celebrate Holy Mass on the feast day of his little Saint Thérèse, because in return she came to carry him away to heaven. Is that not worthy of envy?

I love you and send you lots of kisses, my increasingly beloved little sisters,

Sr Fse-Thérèse

B.B.G.!
