Beloved little Sisters,

The blessing from the Holy Father filled me with joy. I shed sweet tears to think that our beloved Father and Pontiff deigned to remember the smallest and tiniest of his lambs. What matchless kindness!!!! Naturally I’m counting on you, darling little Mamma, to thank His Holiness. What is most touching is that this Blessing wasn’t requested by my beloved Carmel. For me, who lacks the words to express all my heart’s gratitude, this triples its value.

Writing in bed isn’t comfortable. All the same, I would have to be dying not to write before Lent. What’s more, my heart would burst if it couldn’t respond to all the love I’ve received since I fell ill. Your daily letters are so reassuring! My Mother is matchless and overflowing with loving affection and kindness. Do pray for her health because she is worrying more than necessary. I don’t know how she can withstand so many trials. She is a great soul, and God is certainly treating her as such.

My spirituality matches that of my Thérèse and, consequently, that of our Holy Founder. Their Doctrines are one and the same. She is the one our great Doctor dreamed of. I am perfectly surrendered. Jesus will come and steal me away when He pleases. If that’s when the world ends, then that suits me too, since I love what He does above all else.

Now, matchlessly loved little sisters, I must stop my chatter, but my increasingly loving heart will never be quiet, as you know.

How will I repay the Lord for all the blessings He has given me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord all the days of my life. The nurses I have couldn’t possibly care for me any better. There is not a queen who is in any way happier than me . . . .

I’m fully intending to pay you back everything I owe you in Communions. Although I’m penniless, the Rich Sovereign will settle all my debts.

I love you! I love you! I love you!
