From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – October 15th 1936

V + J! From our Caen monastery this 15th October 1936

Dearly beloved eldest sister,

It is with immense affection that I join in the joyful concert of praise to you on the jubilee anniversary of the day you joined this most blessed and privileged ark. Our Thérèse will come down from heaven to be with her darling godmother, and her joy will turn to tears at the memory of those she shed at your parting, which is still keenly felt in a heart as loving and sensitive as hers.

As I told you in my last letter, I was very glad to be on retreat at the same time as you. We were so perfectly united in God that I dedicated all my extra Communions to you. Dear little sister, we are permitted to attend the conventual Mass that our dear chaplain will celebrate for your intentions.

An immense deluge of graces are going to shower down upon you and flood your Bridal soul on this day of perdurable blessings, because who other than God can understand the value of a Mass? You can even be sure of having several Masses, for you are so dearly loved!

People everywhere will storm heaven in honour of your Golden Jubilee on 22nd May 1938. Ad multos annos!!!!

In my next letter, I’ll send you my retreat resolutions. In the meantime, I send lots of love and kisses to all three of you. My heart is but one with yours as we honour and pamper our dearest eldest sister. She deserves it in so many ways,

Sr Françoise-Thérèse Martin

of the Visitation of Holy Mary

P.S. I’m very touched by our dearly beloved Mother’s inexhaustible kindness: she wants our general Communion on Thursday to be for you. What’s more, you shall receive a charming ciborium cover, which you can send to the missions if you like. I would rather you kept it for your sacristy because it is too lovely for the missions.
