From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Sr Marie of the Sacred Heart – March 14th 1937

14th March 1937

Dearest eldest sister,

Our hearts are overjoyed to be keeping you, but I understand your bitter disappointment. You were rejoicing because you thought that you, the sweet victim of Jesus crucified, had reached port. Yet He desires to add a little more value to His beautiful diamond by increasing its sparkle and torching it again in the flames of love.

I know how generous you are and I’m sure that, if that is His good pleasure, you are willing to stay stretched out on the cross that His own Heart prepared for you until the end of the world.

I’m so grateful to you, darling Mamma, for sending me news every day. Let’s hope Thérèse’s beloved Godmother [Marie] will recover from this painful warning in time for the wonderful Easter celebrations.

With heart-felt kisses to my darling trio

Sr Françoise-Thérèse

Forgive my scribble; I’m writing in bed, though I’m not sick, so I’m doing real penance! It’s so uncomfortable!
