From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her three sisters in the Carmel - November 21, 1938

V + J! From our Caen monastery this 21st November 1938

Dearest little sisters,

For me, the Presentation of sweet little Mary at the Temple as a three-year-old child is the feast of all feasts! Following the example of our divine and gentle Queen, all four of us have joyfully renewed our holy vows. It’s such an ineffable reunion, isn’t it? I for one will, I dare hope, sing the mercies of the Lord forever and ever.

Darling little sisters, I was waiting until your much appreciated letters arrived before finishing mine. I understand our eldest sister’s frustration at not being able to write anymore, especially since I too have great difficulty using a pen because of my nervous spasms. However, I’m in much better health. It’s merely old age. Through thick and thin, we must proclaim, “You fill me with joy, O Lord, in all that You do.” Darling Céline, I remember clearly that Thérèse had her back to the sacristy on the day of her 1st Communion. You know I won’t let St Celina’s day go by without wishing you a happy feast day! Thank you, little Mamma, for all your pretty pious pictures. They quicken my heart. I’m praying hard for all your patients, for everything we have, we share.

With fond kisses

Sr Françoise-Thérèse

His Lordship’s speech is so wonderful! We have been marvelling at it.
